The Inspiration

Stories from a changing world

This apartment was inspired by Arthur Munk, a Subotica-born doctor, writer and traveller whose life connected him to some of the most remarkable events of his time.

In 1912, Munk served as a ship's doctor aboard the Carpathia, the vessel that reached the site of the Titanic disaster and rescued more than 700 survivors. His later writing captured the extraordinary world he had witnessed — a world of travel, discovery and rapid change.

His story became the starting point for an apartment that feels elegant, warm and quietly timeless. Traditional details meet contemporary comfort, creating a space that feels connected to the past without becoming a museum of it.

The apartment occupies part of the Saving Bank Palace, one of Subotica's most beautiful examples of Hungarian Art Nouveau. Designed by Marcell Komor and Dezső Jakab and completed in 1907, the building belongs to the same remarkable architectural era that shaped so much of the historic city centre.

The palace itself became part of our inspiration: its ornament, proportions and history encouraged us to create an interior that feels refined, intimate and distinctly Subotica.
